The Riverdale Horticultural Society was founded during the Great War, which is why we use the poppy in our logo. We honour those who fought for the freedom we enjoy today.
Would you like to broaden your gardening knowledge?
Why not explore membership at the Riverdale Horticultural Society (RHS). Our monthly meetings feature experts who speak on a variety of subjects that will not only educate but inspire. Learn about growing, nurturing and loving all sorts of plants along with the insects and animals that contribute to plant health.
We are a friendly group of novice and experienced gardeners who have an interest in the natural world whether that is a sprawling garden, allotment plot, or a balcony pot.
You will meet like-minded people who are interested in learning what’s new along with what’s always worked and why it’s always worked.
We meet the second Wednesday of each month in the evening at Frankland Community Centre for about 90 minutes and most meetings are in person and by Zoom. We meet from September to June and take a break in July and August to enjoy the fruits of our labour (and sometimes also fruit!)
RHS also offers a very popular worm castings fundraiser in the spring (worm castings are also affectionately known as ‘black gold’). More information on that will be available on this site and Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/groups/riverdalehorticulturalsociety
Gardening is one of those activities where you ‘see’ benefits from any time you devote. Unlike an office job, your efforts are tangible and immediate; whether that’s digging, planting, pruning or weeding. It’s VERY gratifying and satisfying to see the effects from just a little effort. Did you know gardening has been proven to be good for your physical and mental health?
Come grow with us.
We offer individual memberships for $20/year or family memberships for $25/year
You will find a membership form below or email us at info@riverdalehorticultural.ca for more information.

Thank you to Lisa Kiss for the beautiful logo. Riverdale Horticultural Society was founded in 1916 during the Great War. We use a poppy in our logo to commemorate those who fought for the freedoms we enjoy today.
