This is a HYBRID meeting (Zoom and in-person at Frankland Community Centre @ 816 Logan Ave. Toronto
Shane Abernethy is a wildlife biologist/ornithologist and is the Bander-in-Charge at the Tommy Thompson Park Bird Research Station, employed by the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA). He also hosts the TRCA’s weekly Feathered Friday Videos! His focus is fostering curiosity in the natural work, ethical wildlife observation, and highlighting conservation challenges.
Shane presentation will mostly focus on hummingbirds, their unique biology and adaptations, and ways to better garden to their needs, but will also have an intro section giving an overview on bird banding and the kind of work he does.
